This three-day online training course introduces you to a “Core Set of Skills” & “Framework for Adjustments to Practice,” when supporting autistic people with co-occurring mental health conditions.

You can take this 3 day online course as a stand-alone module or as Module 2 in the BPS Approved Certificate and Diploma in Autism and Mental Health. All course materials are available online via a learning management platform so you can complete at your own pace and time.

There are eight lessons in this module/short course including:

Lesson 1: Introduction to PICASSO, an integrative and holistic framework for supporting autistic people with co-occurring mental health conditions.

Lesson 2: Developing Autism Responsive Services Preparation for first contacts, assessments, and appointments (adjustments to practice).

Lesson 3: Developing Autism Responsive Services (Part 2). Adjusting practice to different executive functioning, thinking and information processing styles.

Lesson 4: Autism Assessments and Mental Health. Recognising Pathways to Assessment.

Lesson 5: Understanding Autism Assessments, strengths, weaknesses, and implications for practice.

Lesson 6: Assessing Autism in Girls and Women, Adjustments and Practice issues.

Lesson 7: Autism, language, gender identity, diversity, and mental health (adjustments to practice).

Lesson 8: A bio-psycho-social – spiritual model of autism & mental health initial assessment
